Hey, I was wondering if anybody has any input on a nice lpace to live in Bergen with descent priced coops that is close to NYC? I plan on moving to the Bergen county area (I'm living in South FL) and need some input. I looked on some realty websites and Fort Lee looks pretty nice with good prices, as well as Hackensack. What do you all think of thse areas? Are they in nice areas? Are they safe? Any suggestions on other cities? Please help!!

This is just opinion, but I would not live Hackensack. Bergen county in general is a good choice with many towns to choose from and which town specifically depends on your price range. Generally, the northern part of Bergen County has the nicer neighborhoods. Fort Lee would be a good choice. Good luck.
Try the Mediterannean Towers West building in Fort Lee. It's very nice... olympic size pool... mini supermarket, hair salon, exercise room, and kids playroom in basement... In my opinion, it's really nice! Also, easy access to the George Washington Bridge... very safe (plus 24 hour doorman).
Hackensack was nice about 30 years ago. Since then, much of it seems to be going downhill, with many businesses that have left Main Ave, and many of the new ones seem like extensions of the dollar stores.
It is one of the few places that charges you for parking at the library.
The main book store, Wormraths, an institution, has folded for lack of support.
There is a teaching hospital in town and on the surrounding streets, very nice housing, but I get the feeling that if the hospital left, so would the housing because it is doctors, their offices, and other employees who inhabit many of them. There is a nice upscale mall, Riverside.
I would choose Fort Lee. I think the inhabitants are closer to each other on the socio-economic scale, schools must be better, closer to New York. ici
