They have now officially renamed Xanadu as the "American Dream Meadowlands". When completed in 2013 it will be one of the largest malls in America expected to draw 60 million visitors a year. It will house the largest ferris wheel in the country, an aquarium, a theme park complete with three roller coasters, an indoor water park with a beach and North America's first indoor ski slope that will be open year round.

The $3.7 billion project is expected to generate 9,000 construction jobs and is being subsidized with $200 million in sales tax grants from the state.

The pictures and descriptions sound great. Now if it really turns out to be a fun (safe, clean etc) place is whole other question.

That slide show gives new meaning to "artist's rendering"

The Freedom Tower in the background was cool though.

LOL

Something tells me that water park won't be so appealing in person.

I agree. I do not understand all the whiners about this. It is already 75% done, just complete the damn thing and open it up already.

That was the original plan , the Mall was later added and thus the plan fell apart.

Indeed.......................... It will make money.
I think the whole concept is odd, but people will not turn down a mall in this area (that includes NYC. As much as they like to hate NJ malls, NY plates & the throngs of NY'ers getting off the bus at NJ malls is endless).
