I know people, in their 50s, who seek a 2-3 bedroom townhome in a nice community anywhere between 15-25 mins. from Cedar Grove. Price range for sale from $300,000-$499,000 or rent $1,000 - $2,200.
If those are the only requirements, not really a problem. West Essex Highlands comes immediately to mind, but there's many others depending on what else they're looking for (e.g. West Essex Highlands is not really near anything, so if they're looking to walk places it's not a good choice).
Their largest selection of townhomes in that price range would be in West Orange. There are more than 6 developments from which to choose, the nicest including West Essex Highlands, Crystal Woods, Eagle Ridge and the Villas at Crown View.
In Cedar Grove, there are units at The Summit as well as the age 55 and over townhouses at The Four Seasons, a K. Hovnavian development. There is Fells Manor in Caldwell, Stepping Ridge in North Caldwell, Roseland Glen and the Eagle Rock in Roseland, Cambridge Heights in Nutley, Inwood Great Notch in Little Falls, Cambridge Crossings and the age 55+ Four Season's in Clifton. There are also very hip, contemporary townhouses currently available at 51 and 53 Greenwood Ave. in Montclair.
Many of these have extra amenities such as a pool and gym included in their maintenance fees.
In other words, they have a large selection from which to choose, all within 15-20 minutes of Cedar Grove.
If your friends would like more specific information about these townhouses or the towns they are in, I'd be happy to help. Please send me a direct message if you'd like.
