How many people can do what this manager does? Is it a growing industry? How stable are the customers? How are other similarly experienced managers in the same field compensated?

That is my question what do you think the compensation should be- say it was retail or a bank or government what do you think someone who manages 250 people and produces $300 million in income plus provides other services should make?

Depends on 2 key variables - Industry and Profile.

In Finance or Consulting, salary could range anywhere from 150k to 250k+. In other low paying industry like Retail, it could be a fraction of that.

If you were in a role that directly supports customers or front-office and if your skills are highly transferable, its very valuable. If you managed a low skilled staff of 250 and your skills are very specific to your industry, it may not be very sell-able.
