Anyone know how Ticketmaster and StubHub are allowed to get around the scalping laws in NJ?
As usual Bruce tickets go on sale, his true fans spend a couple of hours trying to get tickets, then we're told they're sold out, but if you go to StubHub? thousands of tickets available, and tickets that have a face value of $98 are going anywhere from $2,000-$4,000.

How are they able to get away with this?
I don't like your use of the term "true fans".
It implies that someone who didn't bother to get tickets isn't a "true fan". Or someone who did get seats but may not know who was the drummer before Max isn't a "true fan".
Second, I just went on stubhub and seats are nowhere NEAR the prices that you are claiming.
I've gotten tickets for multiple Springsteen shows through TM without a problem. There was an issue today, who knows why.
As for your scalping question, I've seen tickets for Bruce sold at a premium but nowhere near what you're claiming. It's mainly because Stubhub is based outside of NJ.
They may be out of state. I used to scalp a few years ago and partnered with folks in Brazil (small scale... less than 10 seats). If you're a true fan, just secure the best seats at whatever cost and enjoy the show.

Or just save 150 bucks a head and bootleg the show. That's FREE!

$4,000? and I'm supposed to do that how?
I'd like to know why scalping laws are different for people versus sites like StubHub?

$4,000 is excessive in terms of resale value.... I'll give you that. The norm is about 300%. I don't really see the prices staying that high. However, if it does stay that high, that means that the "true fans" are willing to pay that much. It's entirely out of reach.
I don't understand stub hub. But let's say that stub hub is in Canada. The laws don't apply to them.
Scalping is good for the economy. It gets people to spend more money. However, if I was an artist, I'd Miley Cyrus the tickets. She requires the same credit card to be swiped at the time of admission that was used to purchase the tickets. Minimizing scalping.
I'm not sure scalpers care about who is providing the entertainment, it's more about how popular they are- I bet if it were Justin Bieber, tickets would be just as high ...
It's all about the money !
