1. Palisades Parkway
2. Blvd. East (the NYC skyline is spectacular on that road)
3. Route 208
I also love driving on route 46 at night past Teterboro and looking at the runway lights as I pass them - just want to takeoff! But Rte 46 is NOT a scenic/pleasant road to drive on in general.
How about rt 22? Not. Has to be the one of the most dangerous highways I have ever been on, with both side u turns and congested traffic from springfield to union. I literally told my insurance agent I was commuting there and she upped my preimium.
Going south on 537 past I-195, it becomes gorgeous, great view with farmland.
In general that area between Rt-33 and I-195, like around 539, and some other road I can't remember, 522 maybe?, there's som gorgeous farmland and old farmhouses to look at
If you want a nice ride with a gorgeous view, I would suggest an NJ train ride! Smooth, Air-conditioned, quiet, and best of all YOU DON'T HAVE TO DRIVE YOURSELF. ahhhhhhh SO CATHARTIC! So nice. No merging, especially not with giant trucks that could easily kill you with one mistake, no stop-and-go traffic, no missing an exit, none of that BS
see the pretty norman rockwell/old town picture look of our NJ downtowns. Also see some cool industrial stuff as you go through the meadowlands. You can see the giant pile of coal at the power plant, and all the railyards and truck yards and the rail equipment and sometimes they're doing work
So far prettiest I've seen is the bergen/main lines. Eventually I've got to go north towards Port Jervis, apparently there's this gorgeous raised rail bridge in Matamoras.
nj turnpike - moves fast during my commute
gsp - moves fast during my commute
road through colts neck that i take between middletown and freehold, i think it might be 537. i like it because it goes through farms and nice big open properties that i think look purty.
