Okay, folks. My sister (in Bergen County) told me a vicious rumor that she's seen some leaves already changing by her!

Confirm? Deny?

I bumped up my vaca by one week as I don't really want to miss the fall spectacle. If I did miss it, I wouldn't die or anything--the major thing, of course, is seeing my family. But I would like to hit Peak Week for leaves or thereabouts if at all possible. So now I'm probably going out Oct. 12th for a week (instead of the next week), along with my toddler. We will be staying in Bergen County.

Also, anybody got an apple picking schedule for the general area? I suppose I could Google this, but I thought it would be more fun to ask people, and get everybody in the fall spirit. I'm hoping some varieties will be out the week I go. We plan to apple-pick...go up to Bear Mountain and check out Oktoberfest...and just take long walks through the rustling leaves. If there are any left!

I am very excited!!

It's true. I pointed out a hint of colors to my son a couple of days ago. I agree with the previous poster. Enjoy it while it's here.

That's VERY exciting!

I'll be back up in northern NJ for my birthday (treat to myself, until I move there) next month...and this thread got me even more excited.

Enjoy your vacation!

Talking Not by me

Hey JerZ-

The leaves by me are still green. I have my mums planted in the front yard. I picked the ones with buds not bloomed so by Halloween they will still be bursting with ORANGE. My neighbor went apple picking yesterday.

I checked with the local farmer for bales of hay & cornstalks. She said Give Me one more week !

BTW: It was sticky hot today & yesterday- like 85+

Yep
The change has started and even had a few falling already
But the best is still to come when you get back to jersey

If i have any jobs up that way i will give you a holler
so you can see how bad the conditions some people pick to work in

IF not Then you have a safe and FUN trip and enjoy the time with your family .

i've seen one or two, but i definitely would not say the season has begun. i think it's because of lack of rain more than anything, and the cool temps we had a few weeks ago.

i'm sure you'll catch them at peak!!!
