Hi,
We are moving to US mid november. Our son is in grade 2 completed 7 years in April 2012. Its a relief to know that mid year admission should not be an issue. Although we would need recommendations for good school districts in middlesex/union/essex/bergen/mercer counties as they would be closer to work. Also would the child need to appear for any test before admission.

Thanks for all the help

Any reputable school district will want to do testing prior to admission, and this testing could take more than one day. If a child needs remediation, it is much better to know this prior to admission, rather than have to change his class schedule after admission, in order to accomodate remedial classes.

Changing schools is hard enough for a child, especially if he is coming from a different country. Surely you don't want him to start his classes and then have his routine disrupted at a later date if it is belatedly discovered that he needs remediation.

Go to the website in the for the school in the town where you will live, (enrollment details should be there.)

NJ has 591 Different School Districts, All are very local to where you live. (Some are Very Small).
