I'm not big into nightlife anymore, but would like some place with good restaurants or a few bars to grab a drink or two. Nothing crazy. I would also like it to be a place where there are other singles and I can easily meet people. I work in the city, so i would need to find a place with an easy commute. Any suggestions? (or am i being too vague?) Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thank you.

I suggest you look at Fort Lee and Edgewater. That's pretty close to NYC, LOL. They both have good single populations, young people populations, etc. and they offer a lot to the community -- restaurants, nightlife, social events, and so forth. I hear what you are saying about Jersey City. For me, I think parts of JC are very nice, but they have a different feel than Fort Lee or Edgewater. Again, just for me, I think Fort Lee has more of a "hometown" kind of feel, the benefits of a "city" type living, but also an intimate kind of place where one can feel at home. I am sure there are people who feel the same way about parts of JC, so again, I am just giving my opinion and how I feel.
Morristown is nice, but it is a bit "far" so to speak. It's detached. You are not zipping in and out of the city to meet friends, go for dinner, etc. It's just not practical or feasible. Not for most people. People can say it's 45 minutes to NYC, but that's not really practical or realistic. It's like saying Fort Lee is only 8 miles or 10 miles from LaGuardia Airport (or whatever it is) and it should only take you about 20 minutes or so to get there...ummmm, no, ain't gonna happen. LOL. Commuting time is far more realistic and depending on when you leave in the morning and when you head home, I would count on more like an hour or more. Rt. 80 in the morning and evening is absolutely brutal.
Montclair is also very nice. Again, lots to offer -- restaurants, nightlife, social activities, etc. It's a bit less "city-like" as Morristown has the feel of a bigger, sprawling downtown area. Both are nice and can be fun towns.
Good luck.
