Across from Sunrise Mountain in Branchville, NJ, next to Culvers Lake and above Route 206, at the top of a mountain there used to be a house called the Acropolis but it's lone gone now. Does anyone know anything about this house?
In the picture above, you can see Culvers Lake on the left and Route 206 on the right since that view is looking south from the top.
Could this be Rhonda? That picture looks like one I took. :-) The Acropolis house was built back in the 50s I think and passed through several owners until it was abandoned in the late 70s/early 80s. It was torn down around '82 because it had been vandalized and declared an "attractive nuisance." A sad loss. The site is gorgeous as is the view. It probably cost as much to cut the road up there into the mountain as it did to build the house. -- Scott who is still in NJ.
