I want to host Summer Solstice grill-outs every year, but public parks don't let you bring booze, and I don't know where I can rent some land for a day.
Where would I do this?
I called a camp once and they had something, but it was like $700 for the day for a huge lot, the kind of thing for corporate retreats. I was thinking a smaller lot for like $100-$200 for a day.
Anybody know anyplace in North Jersey? Churches? Outdoorsy-type places? Campgrounds? Just guys who have lots?
Look into Silas Condict in Kinnelon - they have office parties and family gatherings there often, including a pavilion, hiking trails, a lake, boathouse and softball field
My family rent a spot at one of the county parks almost every year for a HUGE summer cookout. We have never had a problem with getting an alcohol permit.
Theres also nice place out in Warren or Hunterdon County where some friends of mine hold a Kindred Spirits Festival every other year. Going to have to look that up later, busy at work.
OK, wow, I just looked up a bit, and I found that the Alpine boat basin you CAN serve alcohol if you have a permit and "have a means of dispensing alcohol only to participants". The Alpine boat basin is right near my parents house in Alpine.
I suspect that I'll find similar from a lot of public parks.
OK, so I actually went right to the Bergen County Parks Commision in Hackensack, and it turns out that NO Bergen county park allows alcohol no matter what.
Alpine Boat Basin, which I mentioned, is not part of the Bergen County Parks, remember, it's part of the Palisades Park thingy.
I'm gonna go to Rockland County seat or something soon and ask them about in their area.
