Moving to Jersey City, wondering about the area? (Hoboken: quality of life, shop)

Hey!! My girlfriend and I are moving to Jersey City soon. We are going to be in the area close to the Congress St elevator (2-3 blocks away), on Palisade. It would be awesome if anyone could give us some insight on the area, in terms of safety and maybe a place to grocery shop nearby. Thanks!!

Quality of life issues, only thing it has going for it is its proximity to the light rail.

Given the area, you'll probably do most of your shopping and socializing in Hoboken. The ShopRite at the Harsimus Cove HBLR station is easily accessible by public transit for you and is probably your best bet for grocery shopping.
