Do you have children?
Working in Chelsea you should be able to take the PATH train without having to switch to the subway. See
PATH - The Port Authority of NY & NJ for route maps, etc.
NJ Transit connects to the PATH at Hobken & Newark.
Take a look at
www.njtransit.com to see which NJ Translit lines go into Newark & which ones go to Hoboken.
At Hoboken you can get right on the PATH (33rd Street line) that you'll need for Chelsea area.
At Newark you'll get on the WTC PATH line & have to switch for the 33rd Street line at Journal Square or Grove Street. Everytime you switch trains it adds time & hassle to your commute.
You can also take NJ Transit directly to Penn Station in Manhattan & hop the subway down to Chelsea.
Note that there are 2 Penn Stations, one in Newark, the other in New York (Manhattan.)
