NJ.Com posted some school rankings early this am, and there isnt one thread discussing it on the board??

Have we FINALLY turned the corner?

The thing about rankings is that they change. I don't know how anyone born after 1970 can ever decide on which town to live in let alone what street in that town to live in with the influx of changing and conflicting statistics. Add that with unrealistic criteria and price range and you have one giant complaint fest.

Oh noes my town's HS is rated a B. I am forever doomed and I will never be able to sell my home in the future....

I think I might have made the dumbest purchase of my life. I can't believe I didn't check my local school's ranking before buying.

Oh wait, my kids aren't even in HS yet.... as a matter of fact I don't even have kids.... wait a sec I am not even married... s@#$ I am still single.

Don't worry. Private schools are better options anyways.

New Jersey's Top Performing Public High Schools | NJ.com

Yes, a C! Still solidly mediocre! Same as my HS GPA! Woo-hoo!
The letter grades are weird. Above average and not improving is better than above average and improving.

Yeah it is strange. Only reason I can think of that is it may be viewed as "less stable". If a school is rapidly improving, I guess you can't tell if it will be a long term change.

Yup, same here. Does it really matter? My wife and I are pretty laid back and so are our children so we fit in well in our mediocre town with our mediocre residents and our mediocre schools. Does that mean my kids will be destined for mediocrity? Who cares...
