Does anyone have any first-hand experience living here or info on this rental community? I was traveling on the jersey turnpike and saw its convenient location and looked up reviews and other info online. Things seem to sound ok....around 2k for a 2 BR, walking distance to NJ trainsit rail, parking.
I have never lived there but I considered renting there in the past. I remember mixed impressions. People at the management office have no clue how they should treat their customer. The units I saw were very nice (reasonably priced, I thought at the time). Nice nature in the backyard (I think they offer Kayaking. Shuttle bus to take you to Secaucus Station although you could walk there. Some businesses, like dry cleaning were starting to open at the time. Nice common room, like pool table. I thought that they should have a pool but they don't. I thought that for NYC commuters who spent 100% of social life in NYC (come home just to sleep), it would be a great option (to almost all trains stop at Secaucus before going to Penn, so you won't have to wait for long for a train).
Pass by it everyday. Never lived there. I did rent an apartment at Liberty Terrace in East Rutherford which is owned/built by the same company, middlesex management. People really hate that management company but I lived there for over a year and never had an issue. The build quality of my unit was awful. Super thin walls and bad insulation, etc. I'm not sure what its like there but you should definitely go to the perspective unit and spend some time there: turn on the water, see if you hear outside noise, as well as noise from other apartments. Every time someone flushed a toilet we would hear water rushing through the pipes. other than that it was really nice.
Pros:
1) NYC and Hoboken Commute
2) Modern apts and good quality build
3) Responsive maintenance
Cons
1) Isolated (small utility store within one of the blds though) and in warehouse type area.
2) Walkway on bridge over tracks not cleared of snow (hence need to walk on road during snow) (county, town and NJ transit fight amongst themselves as to who is responsible)
3) Far from the main town and seems to get step-motherly treatment from the town
(During sandy, main town got power back on 3rd day, harmon cove on 4th day and the last to get power in the whole of secaucus was Xchange on the 5th day)
All in all good for commute and if you plan to stay inside the apt or outside Seacaucus. Not good if you want to take a walk daily outside and come across people/neighbourhood.
