Tennessee is really nice I have on a few occasions done some hiking/biking/camping in the smokey mountains of Tennessee and I had a blast!!
My major malfunction is that I have the need to be near the ocean for fishing, boating, paddle boarding, kayaking and scuba diving just to name a few. plus I like the ocean breeze that provides my nostrils with that distinctive "salt air" aroma that comes flowing in off the sea! Also the older I get the more I find that I dislike the cold snowy winters in the northeast.

Therein lies your real answer. Choose Florida. Enjoy.

If you want to do this all year then obviously Florida is right for you. But from April (arguably) to October you can do those things in NJ. You can technically do most of that all year here, I know people who do who are residents of the shore areas, but those are the warmest months.
