We are relocating to NJ with 2years old kid and need some recomondations. We both might either work in NYC or NJ where ever we get more IT work. We are looking for easy commute(D2D 1+hr) to NYC and affordable single family homes to live American dream in central NJ.

I knew that Edison area do have lots of IT people. Any recommendations in central NJ where I can put money on home/town home, I would prefer single family rather than town home and I can afford up to 450K homes.

Relatively Safe, NYC commutable, Good schools and homes/TH around 450K with reasonable property tax.

Any recommendations?

Central NJ is the place for you! I live in Somerset County with my family, and that's also where I concentrate my real estate sales activities. (Yes, I am a real estate agent.)
There are many great towns here that have everything you want. Good, (many would say GREAT) school systems, nice neighborhoods, restaurants, shopping, transportation, ammeneties, etc, etc. Of course, Nice means different things to different people. A great school for one family means they have access to a variety of AP courses for college credit, while to another famiuly it means very competetive sports teams. My son started kindergarten this year, so this is a subject with which I have become quite familiar. I recommend you take a look at NJ School Report cards. Objective data, not subjective opinions. To some people, a nice neighborhood means big yards, lots of trees & open spaces, while others prefer a vibrant town center atmosphere with shops & restaurtants. And whatever your favorite flavor, you can find it here. The commute of 1 hour to NYC might be tested a bit, and some of these towns will not have any real selection of stand alone houses at that price range, but others will have a nice inventory. And since Central NJ is commutable to both NYC and Philadelphia, you have access to emplyment opportunities on both of those cities as well as the many major companies located right here in Central NJ.
