i called up american express in the past and the person picks up and says "its a wonderful day at american express, how may i help you with excellent customer service." i love that stuff. she was so nice throughout the whole conversation; she made me proud to be an american.
Try calling DMV, they are a load of fun over there too.
This reminds me of a trip to France, where everyone was friendly except a worker at the train station, who ignored us & didn't attempt to help although she was at the information desk.
I assumed it was because we were American & my husband reminded me that in most mass transit locations in the US, the workers tend to be less than friendly. I think it's the same for government office employees.

I know I always sum up the entire population of a state through single phone call. Good work.
I've lived in this crap hole of a state my whole life. SSDD for dealing with the state. Useless double digit IQ dullards there for the pension and benefits. Doing the job they are supposed to do? Don't make me laugh.
Try dealing with DMV or Unemployment folks. The worst of the worst when it comes to customer service, follow up/ through or professionalism. But these people have the jobs, security, benefits, pensions, etc. to me something seems wrong with this and I don't think it's just me feeling this way.

Actually I haven't had a problem with the competence of NJ DMV. They're plenty rude, but they do get the job done.
