He's received a total of two interview requests. In many cases, all someone can do for their predicament is to "blame yourself."

Go to North Dakota and make $30/h working out in the oil fields. They're hiring any able body who's willing to work in subzero temperatures.

No idea WHY your friend would think a hiring manager would look negatively on the fact that he's been in sales for the past 3 years. Guessing it might be a retail sales job...but if so, I STILL don't get it.

It's a MUCH more detrimental thing to NOT put this job on his resume and have to lie about what he's been doing for the past 3 years, if he even gets an interview.

If he wants to get back into Hotel Management or another field, he should wise up...or he'll stay in his current rut.

He's actually a furniture salesman, which isn't that bad imo. I suggested that he do a stint in Dubai for a couple of years to get back in the business; but he's gay and not very adventurous, so I guess Dubai is a no-go for him.

Your resume has to be smart and succinct.

The attention span is 10 seconds. In that time you either storm 'em or norm 'em.

Then the phone screen.

Articulate succintly.

Then the interview.

Answer in a conversational manner.

Dress your very best. Do take time to pluck, trim nails, hair in nose and ears.

Oh, goodness, I'll stop. Oh wait, one more, socks should always be a shade darker than your shoes. Always polished. Navy suit, not gray or black - never khakis with a sport jacket.

Oh, I've gone on.

You haven't followed up, why?
