I can't come up with 5, but Montclair is a great family town, good for commuting, great schools, lots of things to do in the area. Cons, high taxes. I'm sure there's many other towns in the state that fit the bill.
The three towns I would consider moving to are Westfield, Ridgewood and Montclair. They all have great downtown areas, have good school sytems, are safe and offer good commuting options.
The cons are the cost of living there plus the snob factor. I've heard it's more prevalent in Ridgewood and Westfield.
