There is a pic of the roof removed.

There are also some pics of the wood rot found under the front door from an outside and inside view. There is also a pic of the rot removed and repaired.

Here are some pics of the sewer and water main lines being added prior to framing.

Here the trench is dug and the water and sewer lines are placed

Here everything has passed inspection and the trench is backfilled...And yes this occurred before external demolition.

I think you have done your due diligence. From the pics, you are basically building a new home. The existing structure has been gutted to the pretty much the framing. So i consider this much more than a simple addition.

That being said, what do the neighbors homes look like? Im curious how your final home will fit in with the neighbors.

The neighborhood and even the street has a range of different houses. Most of the houses started out essentially like mine (50 to 60 years ago). Now on my block we have 3 total teardowns rebuilt to ~2600 square foot McMansions with double front load garages. My neighbor to the right extended the rear to double the square footage over a decade ago. My neighbor to the left added a 2nd story and extended back and added a detached 1 car garage ~ 4 years ago. All in all roughly half the houses on my block appear to have significantly remodeled. We all have ~0.25 acre.
