I used to be in a bowling league about 22, 23 years ago. We bowled at Hudson Lanes in Jersey City. They had Taylor ham and cheese sandwiches with pickles on a roll and some strange brand of ketchup that was a little too sweet, but I looked forward to that Tuesday night sandwich. My daughter was a toddler and that was my "night out".
I don't eat meat anymore, so no more Taylor ham for me. I'll survive, I think!
I never knew Taylor ham was just a jersey thing. And I never knew people were so crazy about it. I like it. I like that it has a more tangy flavor than regular ham. I probably have it twice a month but I wouldn't consider it something to go crazy over.
When I was a kid (which--admittedly--was a long time ago) I really liked Taylor Ham. However, because I hadn't actually eaten any of this stuff for at least 5 decades, I decided recently to buy a package of this stuff.
So, I fried some Taylor Ham to have with my eggs, eager with anticipation about the...incredible!!!...taste treat that I was about to experience. However, after tasting it, my succinct review of this product is...Meh!
I honestly can't figure out why some people are so incredibly enamored of this NJ product, and I say that as a NJ resident since 1956.
everyone has their own personal preference but i basically felt it was a bland ham. i grilled in up and ate it with egg and cheese. at the end of the day, bacon is what belongs on that sandwich with ham as a back up. pork roll doesnt need to exist.
