Hi i am from New Jersey and I hear about lots of New Jersyans moving to Florida. I always wonder to myself 'what percent of people who were raised in New Jersey move to Florida'?? I could never come up with an answer. Maybe some of you fellow Nj'ans can help me come up with a number.

Obviously it's under 50 percent, I am tempted to say 33 percent or even 38 percent but I know it might be somewhere in that ballpark. It is important to know the percentages .

Thank you all

In NJ it is normal to expect 800-1200 a month in property taxes.

It is common for people reaching retirement age to move to locations with lower cost of living.
Florida is liked for its climate and relatively low costs of living.

Here is a link explaining that cost of Living in this area is one of highest in the country.
7 most expensive states to live in the U.S.

Practically, a salary of 60k is not enough for the part of NJ where I live. Drive 2 hours west into PA and it's good money. So the moment you are on a fixed income, you would leave this area.

I left NJ for 3 years, went to Fort Lauderdale. Hated it even though things were going well there. Missed the change or seasons and despised the hot, humid summers.

Once retirement hits, I doubt we'll be heading south.

Florida is ideal for those who love wildlife--such as the native alligators, giant roaches (euphemistically called "Palmetto Bugs"), and--of course--the now-resident Burmese Pythons.

But now there is an additional treat in The Sunshine State for those who crave exotic wildlife!

The NJ of today is a lot different than the NJ of the 50-60's for those of us who lived there.
My children who were born in the 70- 80's think NJ is just fine because they don't know any better.

NJ with 4-5 mil people was great.
NJ with 8-9 mil people way too overcrowded.

Todays stats.
NJ 1200 ppl per sq mile #1
FL 336
NC 200
