Anyone live around here and commute east towards Newark or Jersey City?

On a whim, I decided to look at houses here and realized how much more you can get for your money in this area.

I'm curious if the commute is really as bad as I think it would be.

One of us would be driving to Newark and the other to Basking Ridge.

Thanks.

I'd say Blairstown as it is a little quicker to get to Rt. 80...Lake Mohawk means either Rt. 206 or even worse..Rt. 15. You may want to try around my neighborhood as well as we are only 5 plus mins. from Rt. 80 and you can still get a great house for the money. Look at Frelinghuysen...Allumuchy...Independence....Green - all nice areas. Your commute to Newark or Jersey City all depends on what time you leave in the AM... if you're on the road by 6:30, you'll beat most of the traffic. My neighbor drives to Orange everyday and it takes him about an hour and that includes dropping his wife off in Rockaway on the way.
