If you want to do a better job trolling the NJ forum, come up with a more believable story. No adult human would enter into contract on a home before having answers to these questions.
Yes, definitely an example of amateur-level trolling!
In any event, I fixed it for you: No intelligent adult human would enter into contract on a home before having answers to these questions.
People from Queens usually move to Long Island when they move to the suburbs. Maybe that would be more suitable for you.
But then, to most natural humans, living on an island bugs you out sooner or later,,,what I mean is normal people tend to return to the continental US,,,the SOIL as Count Dracula would call it
hi everyone. Thanks so much for your replies and sincere considerations. My partner and I have taken everything into account and are ready for inspection this weekend. we'll try to report back within 90 days of our move to see if reality aligns with our expectations.
i was born in LES Manhattan, grew up in Long Island, and then made my way out to Queens. Between LI and NJ, I'd much rather try my luck with the Garden State. People live in a bubble out on the island.
and to those we accuse us of being trolls, i have nothing but sympathy and well wishes for you and the inner turmoil you have on yourself. i hope you're able to let go of anything that is consuming you. we are 30-something gay men who are buying a house before our child arrives via surrogacy next year. we have seen a lot and been through a lot, but we still have nothing but optimism for our future.
I was making a half-serious joke because the poster said this:
Will home values rise? In the whole state (because, really in the more desirable suburban parts of NJ homes are already pretty expensive and so are taxes btw) or in Rahway alone? I live in Union County and Rahway's in the middle, maybe bottom middle, of my personal mental ranking of towns in my county. There are definitely much nicer and better areas if you can afford them. But will you be miserable in Rahway? Likely not. I think Rahway is improving. Downtown seems pretty nice, at least the way it looks, I have driven through and been there a few times in the past few years.
Clark, Scotch Plains, Springfield, Cranford, Westfield, Summit, New Providence, Berkeley Heights, Mountainside. In my mind at least I see these as kind of "better" more desirable than Rahway. But everyone is different and comes from different backgrounds.

Of course, you are correct. However, based on the price range ($250k) that the OP mentioned, I seriously doubt if a home in any of those towns is a possibility.
Additionally, I once saw a woman with "big hair" and gold chains in Clark, so the OP should definitely avoid that town.

Well exactly. While I think those towns are nicer, they are out of OP's price range.
I'm sure he will be fine in Rahway. Nothing exactly wrong with it, I just think the towns I mentioned are more desirable.

Thx both JerseyGirl and Retriever. Yes - those are kind out of our price range, but we're open to reselling our starter home and relocating in a couple of years (especially into a good school district).
My rule of thumb is simple buy the most house you can afford. All areas have the values factored into the price. You want somewhere great and close to NYC then there's a price you have to pay. Some places are overpriced but in general places that are still affordable have their conveniences factored in. It never hurts buying closer to NJTransit stations no matter where. I live under 10 mins to a NJT station and it's a major convenience.
