I'm relocating from NYC for work (My job is in Newark Airport) I'm looking for towns close to the airport (but not on top of it) that has access to public transportation (so I can get to work) A friend of mine suggested Elizabeth and Union..can anyone point me in the right direction?? All I need is a affordable and SAFE location where I can come home from work and not feel like I have to hide in my house. I like to walk and explore as well so a good walking neighborhood would work too...thanks so much in advance !!

Budget?
Buy or rent?
Any town on the NorthEast Corridor train line of NJ Transit will take to you to the Newark Airport station.
See New Jersey Transit - Home for schedules & maps of train lines.
Thanks for the response ... I'm going to rent for now... my budget is about 1500/month. I like to do my research so I was looking for specific towns. My mom still lives in NYC so something that will be easy to commute to for her as well. I'm doing a bit of research on Elizabeth, (Is Elmora really that good -- getting mixed reviews) and Union but I don't want them to be my only 2 options. Thanks again for responding !!
I would recommend checking out Rahway, direct on train line to EWR and NYC, a mix of older and newer apts, and residential and some artsy type places, etc. Close to most of everything you are looking for.
Thanks I appreciate all the help... I'll get right on researching those 2 towns. How's the rental market in general? I know once I start looking for a place, I'll see specifically. Food costs? is it really necessary to get a car (which kept me out of NJ for years) but I don't want to have to pay 2 states in tax revenues if I dont have to, I'd like to keep at least some of my paycheck ( lol) Thanks in advance for all the wonderful advice
