Hi, I am looking for a daycare center for my 1 year old. We live in Springfield, NJ, can you please recommend good places close by. My son is not a very good eater, so I am looking for a place where the teachers are caring and pay attention to the individual kids.

I would highly recommend talking to your neighbors for recommendations. At that age your child might be best suited for a home daycare. That's what we did for both of my kids. Home daycares are usually cheaper and more flexible than typical daycare centers. But they are usually word of mouth, so ask around.

Do go along and have a look at St. Stephens pre-school in Millburn Ave, Millburn (opposite Taylor Park). Although it is in the church grounds, it is non-religious and they take infants from 4 months.

My friends had children who went there (they live in Maplewood and their kids are at elementary school now) and I sometimes collected the children; they seemed to be very happy there and it appeared to be a nurturing environment.

I have no idea of the fees, but if you work in the City you could easily walk to the Millburn train station which is about 5-8 minutes away (or park if you are going to be driving anyway).

Your case might be different, but a lot of people tend to look for a place close to their work, not their house. That way you can drop off "later" and pick up "earlier" just in case you are running late
