To those who helped me with my questions and to all others. If I decide and find an apartment in Parkway Village, Cranford could you suggest any good places to eat, things to do, where is the bus stop to the City ( I think I saw one by DQ).
Where is the closest Catholic Church, park, supermarket etc.

Again thank you.

Again thank you.

Parkway village is definitely at the periphery of the town.

To get to downtown (where the train and buses and stores are), you'll have to bike maybe 0.5 miles west. The best park would be Nomahegan to the northwest of you, perhaps 0.75 miles away. You can also do canoeing and kayaking at the Cranford Canoe Club at Hanson Park, about 0.5 miles to your west. I posted links to pics below.

I would immediately do the following:

1. Check out cranford.com for all the stores, events, recreational activities etc. Probably join the mailing list.
2. Join in on local talk at cranfordtalk.org . Note that there's a lot of anonymous cowards in there.

Cranford has some very good rec facilities that you can bike to:

1. Two community swimming pools + fitness facilities (at Centennial Ave close to GSP 136 and at 1025 Orange Ave). I use the Centennial one and it has very good facilities, including track and several indoor and outdoor pools

2. One private Cranford Swimming Club (has pools, etc, but more expensive) at 201 County Park Dr.

3. Cranford Recreation Center (near library) - new rec center with free indoor basketball, ping pong, billiard, etc. Very good facility.

4. Several tennis courts, including both private and free. There's one free one near Hillside Avenue school near GSP 136 that we use.

Some info:
Cranford Recreation and Sports

Cranford is a pretty safe town, so don't hesitate to bike and explore. Because the rahway river winds its way through the town, there are lots of small parks and "lakes" with bike paths, many of them nearly unknown to anyone but the closeby residents. For example, near the big bend of the rahway near GSP 136 there is an isolated lake right next to the river, with a basketball court nearby. The usual geese sh*t, but it's good to walk along the paved path that goes around the small lake, and sometimes feed the birds.
