As if the story was not tragic enough, but police claims they searched for this kid for over one month. He was last seen at Mercer County Community College. Where was he found? Hanging across the street.

How police found body of N.J. college student missing for month | NJ.com

This is not the first time something like this happened. I remember in Camden the authorities searched for days (maybe weeks) for kids and they were found dead in their own driveway in a car. Not to fault all of the police or rescuers, but it seems like people are not even giving these searches the college try. If anyone I knew ever went missing I would hire private searchers. Also, many of these people who go missing seem to be found days, weeks, even months later in this case, within 100 yards of where they first went missing.

It says his body was found on private land (maybe no one wanted to trespass? not sure how searches work when it comes to private land; no reason to think he was there?) and had been hidden by corn stalks until they were recently cut down. What’s more strange to me is that the police dogs didn’t pick up the scent of his body sooner. It said they found him on the 3rd separate attempt. Whether they used search dogs or cadaver dogs, it’s surprising to me that the dog(s) couldn’t track him sooner considering he was so close by. Though the search dog would only be valuable for a limited time, before he started to decompose.

I guess for whatever reason, any evidence the police and his family had didn’t suggest he could be found where he was. I mean, really, missing people could be ANYWHERE. The police are going to start with the most obvious clues or possible explanations given the circumstances and whatever they DO know, and maybe that just didn’t point them so close by.

Also, where does it say he was found hanging? Maybe I missed it but it sounds to me like he was lying amongst the corn. The articles say no COD yet or at least none revealed.

In all fairness, MCCC is located in a 2500 acre park (Mercer Co. Park). This park is home to miles of trails and a very large lake. He was found across Old Trenton Rd on the property of a large privately owned farm.
This farm has densely wooded areas separating the planted fields, they recently cut down the corn stalks.

Some law enforcement guy said he had hung himself but it is not official yet.
The great tragedy is that a suicide is suspected.

I'm very familiar with that area. I think it's outrageous that they didn't search that area considering that he was last seen at the college right across the street

"Uh all I see is corn stalks"
