Hi! My finace and I will be moving to NJ in June. He will be working in Montclair, but we don't want to live too close to NYC. We are unfamiliar with the area and could use some suggestions. We had heard nice things about Chatham, Morristown and Summit. What would the commute time b/w those towns and Montclair look like? He'll probably be heading in to work for about 8AM. We're open to suggestions of other towns as well. We're looking for a residential area that is safe enough for me to be able to walk my dog around the neighborhood.
ugh route 8o would be a mess then, you should look closer where there are buses and trains if you want. I dont know I would hate to travel 80, between the road work, accidents and traffic in general it just seems it would take forever. But good luck!
yes, the least amount of highways to get to work, the better. I grew up in NJ. I went to college in Montclair and also had a job there. Towns you could look: Livingston, Glen Ridge and Nutley (I think these are still nice areas). Allow me to recommend the area from Caldwell to Montville. I grew up in Towaco, and Montclair was about 20 minutes away. I think Caldwell/west Caldwell is a nice area. Fairfield is also very nice. Best of luck to you!
My job will be down in Warren. That's a pretty lengthy commute, right? Our real estate agent had recommended Caldwell and Nutley... I'm just afraid my commute will be really long.
I lived in Nutley for 2 years, very recently. I really liked it, but the distance from the city wouldn't be much different from living in Montclair, actually it's closer I think.
^^^Yeah, Upper Montclair and along the West Orange border.
