An audit is a good thing imo but if Murphy's going to audit, they should be in the mix like all of the other companies. No half-assed, politically motivated measures.

Next I'd like him to start auditing gov't departments, school districts and public pension funds to see how our money is being spent.

I agree. That's just another cost passed on to the consumer.

I believe in broad based taxes on individuals. My experience in tax administration shows me that is the best way to raise revenue. I would also have a very flat sales tax on all goods and services. I would keep both rates as low as possible to raise the revenue needed to provide the services people want.

I would also do as much as possible to use private partners and competitors to provide government services. I manage a private contractor in my job currently and it works out very well for the taxpayers, the private business and my government employees.
Why don't YOU run for governor. I'd possibly vote for you.

I am too liberal for you.

By the way departments are audited all the time. The results are also published.

My area just underwent an audit. We are waiting for the results.

I thought the auditors were thorough and asked excellent questions. During the audit they also brought valuable information to our attention

Socially, you're probably not. I really don't care what people eat, drink, smoke, say and believe or who they screw or have an adult civil union with.

I only agreed with the fiscal aspects your posts in this thread. Whether those were liberal points, I don't know.

So we would agree

I consider myself a pragmatic libertarian.

I also like to be a fiscal realist and know the real data. Also because we are a representative form of government I understand that some programs will be put in place that I do not support. With those come taxes.

My one big liberal non-libertarian position is that I believe we need a system that provides universal health care coverage.

I think it is so funny. Murph wants to chase down incentives Christie gave out but he thinks it is ok to give $7,000,000,000,000 to Amazon. Ha, ha..
