One of the agents we spoke to offered free insurance on appliances for the first year.

Since we are still looking for an agent to help us buy, can someone please tell us what did their agents offer them?

Hmmm...Real Estate agents are not supposed to offer anything as an incentive in the state of NJ--it's illegal.

Wow--that's some deal! Did you take the agent up on their offer?

Yes, if it was on a specific property that the agent "offered" it. The OP made it sound like it was an incentive to "work" with the agent.

Good service is the best incentive. I always offer my clients honesty, and loyalty. Interview agents that you know you can trust and knows the area that you plan to buy into. Where will you be buying?

Not sure if that's the case, because the agent offered appliances insurance on any house/townhouse we buy via him.

Why in the world would you work with an agent who is offering a bribe? Work with someone who has experience and knowledge of the market and area. The cost of the home warranty this agent is offering you is worth about $450. When you are spending hundreds of thousands of dollars, is a $450 gift going to make a difference If the agent doesn't have experience in the area? I'm not say this agent doesn't, just do your homework.
