Thinking of moving to Montclair and wondering how easy it is to meet people. Are people neighborly? We wanted to move to a smaller city (specifically South Orange) but will probably settle for Montclair. But it feels so big and sprawling and car-centric... I'm wondering if it's hard to make friends.
It's not that easy in South Orange! People in these NJ towns are very family-focused. It's hard to meet people if you don't have kids in the school system. As a single nearing-retirement-age person, I've always thought it would be easier to develop a social life in Montclair. When I go to movies or restaurants in Montclair, I see a lot more people who look like me. There's definitely more night life in Montclair.
Do you have children? Or are you single? If you have kids it will be easy to meet other moms with kids.
