I'll start.

Moved here from AZ about twelve years ago. TS and I decided it was time for a change; and I got a job here in NJ. We packed up our things and drove across country.

People think we were crazy; usually people move from here to AZ. But, I love it here, the ocean, the city, the seasons. I wouldn't go back

Tuscaloosa, AL--I moved here to take a chance on my now husband. We did long distance between AL, NYC (where he worked), and Boston (where he lived) for 9 months, and I moved because it was easier for me to work here than him to work there. I didn't know a soul other than him, and having grown up in the Midwest and then gone to school in the South, it was complete culture shock.

It was absolutely insane, and it was the best decision I ever made.

What kind of "shock"? I've lived here, pretty much forever, so I wouldn't know.

I do see other states as a little different than here. Maybe friendlier, and, ummm... slower.

Slower would be the first thing; definitely. I have always been fast paced anyway; but moving out here, with everyone moving fast was a bit of an adjustment.

Friendly people when I first moved here were non existant. I used to walk around and smile at everyone, nod hello. No one would smile back or they would avoid eye contact; it was strange. A fellow transplant told me in a few months I would be the same; and boy he was right!

Most people in AZ were from somewhere else. So meeting new friends was never a problem. That is the part I miss the most. We would go out to different places, strike up conversations with people and make good friends. Here most people grew up here, so they don't look for new friends. It took us years before we found good friends.

Another thing is the crowds upon crowds upon crowds. It is crazy the amount of people that live here!

See, now I can't stop! The biggest thing for me was areas of NJ having SO many different cultures, towns and feel. I would drive for an hour in AZ and still be in the same town. Here you can be in a really nice area, drive for two minutes and boom you are in a scary area.

Smile Love AZ

Travelled to AZ several times, while visiting Los Ninos Nat'l Park, I blew out my flip flop and actually found a local shoe repair shop. The great folks from the shop asked me if I was from England ( they said they noticed an accent)
I said, "Well, in an obscure way, yes, from Jersey, they said "The Isle of Jersey?" I said, "Heck no, New Jersey!"

We came from B'klyn, NY, hopped over the bridge at Staten Island for a few years, then settled here in NJ.

I am originally from Missouri, then moved to England, then Wisconsin, to Pennsylvania (where we are now), and we are moving to New Jersey at the end of June! Gosh, I am tired just reading all of that! I am ready to settle down a stay put for more than 3 years.

Moved here after living 12 years in Texas in Dec of '86. I've always been comfortable with the idea of living in new places anyway so I was excited about the move.

After 21 years, I'm definitely in need of a new scene.
