"On Thursday morning, a Brinks truck had a malfunction that caused a door to open and spill money along Route 3. Some opportunistic drivers stopped on the highway and got out of their cars to scoop up some of the bills. (There were two crashes related to the stopped cars.)"

Update: $293,500 Still Missing From Brinks Truck Spill!: Gothamist

Don't know if I'd be that crazy to get out of my ride on route 3 to grab money flying all over. But then again.....

More to the point after risking life and limb had one gotten out and took my taste; would turn around and give the money back.

I find it kind of absurd that police are reviewing videos of this incident. Even if they were somehow able to identify a few people out on that highway there would be no way to prove how much money they took anyway.

Holy ****. That's nuts.

That's like the craziest thing I've ever heard of in NJ, and I've been here forever.

Xmas came early for some people ...

Would they do the same thing if someone spilled a truck of beer?

Traffic looks pretty light for Route 3, but still don't think I'd be risking my life.

However if one did, you'd have to pry that *found* money out of my cold dead hands. Unless there was some serious and compelling reason to believe the funds are traceable and or otherwise could be connected, to the threats by LE I say "bring it".

Am willing to bet a good amount of that nearly 300 large is not going to ever be recovered. Between those that are going by "finders keepers", and fact wind likely blew a good amount all over Brinks is lucky to have gotten back much as they have so far.
