I'm looking for some second opinions before I decide to sign a lease for The Green apartments in Bloomfield, NJ. I'm starting law school in Newark in August, and these apartments caught my eye because of their close proximity to the Bloomfield Station for a very easy commute. However, I'm not from North Jersey so I'm not really sure what Bloomfield is like beyond my one visit. I heard the Brookdale area is nice, but there is nothing available currently and I'm on schedule to move asap. When I went to look at the streets surrounding the apartment building in southern Bloomfield, it didn't seem so bad. But I've been reading some negative reviews about this area online that are kind of freaking me out.
I'll have to do a lot of walking around because I'm moving with my dog who requires a lot of exercise. My boyfriend (who will also be commuting, to NYC for work) walks her at night but I'm worried about walking her alone in this area even during the day. Does anyone have any thoughts? And would walking to the Watsessing Park be safe early in the morning? Thank you!!
