I grew up in Rumson, too. Bruce used to play at R-FH's Friday night Teen Canteens (they still have them?) and dances. By 1971, three years after I graduated, he had become big enough to play for my brother's senior prom. After "Greetings," my brother dated a Sea Bright gal who lived next to Clarence Clemons, used to see him all the time.
I don't remember seeing anyone famous (at the time) in New Jersey, but I live in NYC now, and I see famous people all the time. Barbara Walters was sitting at an outdoor table at the restaurant that's in my building yesterday, Tuesday.
I saw Usher. This was maybe in 1993 or 1994 when he first came out. He was signing autographs at the Naughty by Nature store that used to be on Halsey St downtown Nwk. Of course I saw Naughty by Nature on many occasions. I also saw Mr. Funkyman of the 90's rap group Lords of the Underground at the bowling alley one time.
I saw a couple of NHL players in the Short Hills Mall, the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Ottawa Senators (separate times). The Maple Leafs and Senators lost to the Devils the night after I saw them. LMAO. I saw Matt Corrente of the NJ Devils (who's with the Lowell Devils now) staring at me at the mall as well. That was creepy. I drove by Rex Ryan, the Jets head coach, on my street in Summit. Oh, and I walked by Colin White in the Livingston Mall.
I saw Ethan Hawke on NJ Transit back in 1995 when he was already famous and I was thinking how lame that he takes the train out from the middle of nowhere. We got on at the same station and I think he and his friend first ducked into WAWA.
David Chase- creater of the Sopranos graduated a few yrs before me in HS in North Caldwell.- -Lets see--- Ran into Roy White, former yankee, at a appliance store in west caldwell, and ran into Bill Murry(actor) at a video store last yr
Thats it- -I dont think I would know too many famous people by sight - Im not that aware

A billion years (The early 80's when I was in high school) ago I used to work at a restaurant in Highlands called Long John's (not Long John Silvers).
Hey Shanny...off topic...do you know when Long John's closed? That was one of my favorite restaurants and hangouts in the mid to late 70s. Had my first drink in a bar there, in 1973. I was 15! Many years later I was headed there on a date and it was boarded up.
Saw Bruce multiple times when I was younger...I competed in horse shows and my sister was in the same competition bracket as his daughter..also saw him more recently at Turning Point in Pier Village. Tiki Barber spoke during my college's senior week and we got to meet him. Met Oprah as well as numerous Mets and Yankees players when I was working at the Breeder's Cup at Monmouth Racetrack. Met David Hasselhoff in NYC. Saw Howie from the Backstreet Boys in Monmouth Beach once..I think he's married to someone from here. I've also seen a bunch of reality TV stars from the Hills and Real World and such in AC as well as Mya and Lindsey Lohan there
