although Westfield doesn't have a direct train to NYC, the commute is still nice. If you are going in early enough, you can take the bus in and the train home (the bus also leaves from the train station as well as other places). If you end up being back 5 days a week, the monthly train ticket also works on the bus. A huge number of people do this since it is 1 seat to Port Authority by bus, and train has less traffic on the way home. Even if you take the train in, they have 3 express trains in the morning that only have 1 stop before newark that are only ~23 minutes. Almost all of them now stop on track 1, so you just get off and then get on the next train on the same track to go to NYC. ~51 minutes to Penn Station
I work downtown in WTC. I can be at my desk, and be at the kitchen table in 70 minutes INCLUDING my 20 minute walk home from the train station.
you can also add summit and short hills in your range.
