There is a documentary currently running on HBO at the moment that I think all should see - especially parents with kids in or heading to college! Two of the parents featured on the documentary discuss how credit card companies are targeting college students. These two moms had children in college who managed to get themselves so far in debt to the point that they felt that they had no other choice but to kill themselves. The moms tried to fight the credit card companies and seek a new law prohibiting creditors from marketing college students... needless to say, they were not successful. It is a must see!!!

It's not just the cc companies it's the college's as well
They could very easily prohibit this kind of selling on the campus ..they don't because they are making money off it as well.

When a kid goes off to college they are usually 18 or over, legal adults who can open accounts. Parents can't stop them so you need to educate them long before they hit college

If I am helping them pay for college and if they want to stay in college, then yes, they will have to listen. Im sure most kids starting out college still live at home, even when they finish college - still live at home...As long as they live under my roof, and im paying, I will be involved..If they dont wanna listen, they can live on own and deal..

Here's a novel idea....how about some personal responsibility. STOP CHARGING WHAT YOU CAN'T AFFORD TO PAY FOR! Here is another one, LIVE WITHIN YOUR MEANS!

These are 18-19 year old kids, most don't have a clue as to what they are getting themselves into

I saw about 30 minutes of it yesterday (the end of it) - I really want to see the whole thing. Pretty good, though very sad and true.

I disagree. If they are that clueless, what are they doing in college?

But if that "is" the case, why not have speakers go around to high schools and drill a clue into their heads.
