There was an event yesterday in Cape May. 17 countries, and 234 sites joined to celebrate the Cairn lighting. Its an event on its 5th year being running out of Norway "Nasjonal vardetenning mot vidkraft" "national cairn ignition against wind power". Its from a Norway tradition where they lit cairns on fire on hilltops to warn of dangers.

Its now an international event led from Norway to warn on the dangers of wind power.

Wasn't able to participate yesterday, but the event had a great turnout. There were also events in Point Pleasant, and Long Branch against Offshore Wind this weekend. There were booths setup at Fall Fairs across the state warning against Offshore Wind.

There was a media poll last week that now has NJ at 66% is against offshore wind, and that 33% is neutral or okay with it, are just are not aware or educated yet.

Plenty of evidence in these pages that counters the agenda of the anti Turbine posters here.

Surely you jest?

There is plenty of proof and most of it comes from the government and the wind developers. Extensively documented and linked to on this thread.

Not to mention the actual dead whales and dolphins that continue to wash up.

Last year Save LBI put together a great Offshore Wind Presentation that suggests moving the turbines further out to cause less damage to the coastal environment.

The presentation is a quick, easy to read and loaded with information about the current wind farms plans and the impact they will have. Has photos of how the turbines will look from the shore at 9 miles out.

Page 15 shows a map of the planned turbine farms in relation to the whale migration corridor. The whales will be navigating through a thick maze of turbines and substations unable to escape the sound. The sound of the turbines travel for 22 miles underwater before it dissipates.

Page 22 shows the piping plover migration route right through the turbines. Chop chop!

Don't want to read the presentation? Here's a quick fact sheet, Fiction vs Fact, Wind Turbines off LBI.

Construction begins today in Lacey Township. Orsted will be tearing up residential streets to lay transmission cables. They will being work on Long Beach Island the following week. What to Expect.

Offshore pile driving for turbines will begin in April 2023.

Audio here.

This start date nicely coincides with the annual whale migration up the East Coast to the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary. The humpback population peaks there between April and October.

The migrating whales will need to swim though a dangerous noisy construction zone for the next five years. The ex head of Greenpeace Canada called it a death corridor.

After construction is complete the whales will have to contend with the operational noise of thousands of wind turbines. As they spin they vibrate and create sound and pressure waves underwater. There is plenty of noise at the surface too, some of which will be audible on shore.

New Jersey's commercial fisherman will be excluded from the work zones and wind lease areas. They are about to lose their livelihood and way of life. Ditto for the recreational fishing business.

Orsted is establishing a fund to compensate the destruction of the fishing business in NJ. I'm sure this will make the fisherman feel better about losing their generational businesses. In the ruthless calculations of politicians, fisherman are not union members so no votes lost there, no harm no foul.

Gotta break a few eggs to make a green omelette, right?.

I expect support will drop even further when people see the turbines rise up out of ocean next year.

Over the summer I volunteered to work an offshore wind information booth at a NJ country fair. I would say that 70% of the people I spoke to were only vaguely aware that giant wind farms are coming to the ocean next year. A couple of people were in total denial and insisted that it wasn't really going to happen. People were shocked when they saw photos of what it would look like from the shore. They couldn't believe it. I had to point out that the images were produced by the government.

They were angry to learn that developers were granted incidental take permits to harm the whales & dolphins.

Also not happy to learn the projects were being paid for with our tax dollars and that electricity rates are expected to go up, up, up.

Did have a few pro wind people come by and we had spirited but civil conversations. I got the feeling even they were caught off guard to see how gigantic and close to the shore the turbines will be.

I volunteered handing out information brochures this summer down in Belmar boardwalk, people would look at you cross-eyed that they no idea wind turbines are being built. Some group eventually got permission to put huge signs down the Ocean City Boardwalk late summer, showing the Government drawing of wind turbines at their beach. I think people down the shore have become aware of the situation now, however a lot of people inland still don't have a clue, and how it effects them.

If you read Murphy's 2050 draft plan, electricity will become so expensive, that electric cars will not be a feasible transportation option, that they plan is to move to a state-run public transportation system with high-density housing through the state. The original estimate was to increase electricity costs by 300%, then additional costs based on income level, region, social credit score etc. The costs to build these things have spiraled out of control, who knows what the final numbers will be in increased energy cost.

There will be opposition to anything. There has only been one pro-wind rally or event this entire summer, and it was funded by Offshore Wind. Ironically, it was a partnership with all the environmental groups who were forced to attend an event as they received massive donations/grants from Offshore Wind. It was pretty funny to see, you have all these people who work for the organizations to save birds, animal life, roll-up together in 50 limo buses to Long Branch, listen to hear a few people speak, and support something that goes against their mission and then went home. It was a bad event for them, and none of these organizations that accepted the "quiet money" didn't want their names associated to it either.

The only people left, who are pro-wind are the uneducated on the topic or the lone loons who are climate change fanatics and don't realize they are mostly cancelling out nuclear energy for wind energy. It is an uphill battle, as Offshore Wind has an entire media campaign on the topic. If you scroll through the radio, you will likely hear one of their commercials just completely spouting out lies.
