Hi all
Im a single, young professional relocating from the south for a job in ramsey, nj. I have looked for 10 weeks and I still have no clue on where to live....now I only have a few days to find housing.

So now im desperate for suggestions. Here's a little about what I would like:
1. a city with a nightlife...or close/easy access to one
2. a 25-30 mile commute to ramsey
3. a 1 bedroom apt (to rent, not buy)
4. I think the most I can budget for a place (excluding utilities) right now is 1200(although id really like to be closer to 900-1000)

Does anybody have any suggestions as to cities I should look in? Should I cross the nj/ny line and look in ny?

Thanks in advance!

You may consider Hoboken. A roomate may be required for your budget. Commute to Ramsey via train (NJT Main Line) from Hoboken may also be an option (depending how close your work is to either station in Ramsey and the schedules).

Default Nyack!

Check out Nyack, NY! It's straight East on rt. 287, in new york. It's an awesome town, full of shops and bars, like a smaller, cheaper hoboken. About 20 minutes from Ramsey.

New Jersey has a definative apt. shortage bigtime. There is not alot of night life in Bergen County. Mostly restaurant communities like Ridgewood. Hackensack has apt.s but the rents are high there. Try looking on craigslist. You can also try Fair Lawn. I lived and rented an apt. there for 14 years. The rent was reasonable but now I think one bedrooms are like 900. Fair Lawn is centrally located if you live near or on Rt. 4 It is close to Rt.80, Garden State Parkway and Rt. 17. Everything is closeby...Garden State Plaza Mall and tons of shopping in Paramus...right down the road! Not to mention traveling Rt. 4 East into Manhattan in about a half hour no traffic!
