I work in Wayne, NJ and live in Lodi, Bergen County. I have a second-floor flat with great 4-direction exposure, but summers are brutal, with no CAC, it's around 80 degrees with the two window AC units on. It's $800 for about 600 sq. ft, the bath has a moveable area of 2'x2', on street parking, pay for electric and kitchen gas bill, no laundry or d/w.
Any idea about where I can purchase an affordable condo or townhome within a reasonable commute of Wayne, NJ? [25 miles or less]
I've commuted from Jersey City for about 7 years, thank the gods I'm out, and lived in Wayne for a time with a 5-minute commute, but the $1,400 rent for a one-bedroom was way over my budget.
I've heard that Vernon, McAfee, and Lake Hiawatha are affordable.
Once or twice weekly I'm at Sandy Hook during the summer.
Otherwise, I like an occasional trip into NYC.
In that price range, I recommend, Piscataway. Parts of Piscataway is really nice! You will be about 25 miles from Wayne, half way closer to the shore and hop on the path (numerous path stations within 5-10 miles radius) and be in NYC.
Used to live in Lincoln Park and it seemed to have prices more reasonable than Wayne. Also, check out Pequannock. These two towns are both close to Wayne so commute time would be a snap!
