Ok let me re-phrase that....since you have children I would assume that you would need at least a 2 bedroom apartment, having said that, it amazed me that you found one for less that $1000 a month because I looked in that area and I haven't found one. 1 bedroom box for $1000 I can see (b/c I found that), also you would usually have to pay your own heat and hot water which is about $150-300 a month depending on the usage.

Is this an apartment complex or a house that is renting out space?

Also is heat and hot water included?

Check out Maywood - it's right next to Hackensack. My friend used to live there - she liked it, although she had an infant so schools were not of immediate concern. She moved to FL two years ago but at the time her rent was $800 for a 2 BR apt.

Good Luck with your search.

I was raised in Wood-Ridge, small town in walking distance from Heights (the two towns are very similar) and I LOVED the experience growing up there. Close knit community, but close to Manhattan. Being able to walk "on the blvd" with friends to stores. Easy public transportation to malls. Really nice communities with a really lot to do.

Hasbrouk Heights is one of the nicest areas in North Jersey in my opinion however it is not diverse and has a population of almost 100% white and some hispanics. The schools are ranked top notch but i remember hearing last year that one black kid moved into the neighborhood and people spray painted raciel slurrs on his house. So yea if your looking for a really safe environment and great school and dont care about ****in racist bastards then Hasbrouk Heights is great.

Safe enviroment and safe schools is all I care about. That's why its a great town! VERY VERY Low crime. Except for burglaries ever now and then. And I never heard that racist story. Love that town!

Default Old song

Isn't there an old Dionne Warwicke song "Hasbrook Heights"? Since she was from Nj- I was thinking about that. Also this is the town where a student(male) wore a skirt last year-he was protesting something and ended up on CNN.
