I found on craig list some affordable apartments in Hasbrouck Heights, but I know nothing about it, is it a good place to live with kids?

if its not, please recomend a good town to raise kids in, that is NEAR Hackensack area (that is where my husband works) but affordable apartments (by that I mean, rent is under 1,000)

thanks so much

Marina

I believe Hasbrouck Heights is in South Jersey, while Hackensack is north......too far to travel, in my opinion.

Hasbrouck Heights is a great town to raise a family. I think that Lincoln elementary school is ranked 15 in the nation. I love that town. Good choice! Plus you are right in the middle of everything. The taxes are high though. My sister pays $8000 on a house that's probably worth about 450k. To me the only thing about that town that is bad is the SHOPRIGHT is always packed. And the traffic around 17 is a pain but other than that its great. Good family town.

NOOOOOO Hasbrouck Heights is in Bergen County right next to Hackensack and 15 minutes to NYC, 5 minutes to Paramus Mall.

Sorry, my bad. Hasbrouck Heights and Hackensack are only a few miles apart!!! I was thinking of something else.....moved out of NJ in 2004 and lost my sense of direction there.....sorry again. I lived in central jersey back then....and really miss it.

8,000 in taxes in NJ on that house is cheap, imo.

Yeah , ya think??? It's a small house, I guess the only reason why it's 450k is b/c its prime location. I rent so 8000 is a lot to me. LOL

I'm a poor renter.

If you can get an apartment for $1000 for your family, that is great. The amenities around that area are great.....NYC....lots of malls.....and good schools. Good luck. Wish I could afford to move back.
