I'm moving from lovely, beautiful Paris to Northern New Jersey in december and I'm wondering how the climate is in New Jersey (Not the weather for next couple of days)
Here in Paris we have warm, pleasant summers and chilly winters (Rarely below freezing, uncommon snowfall).
Sounds like NJ is probably slightly more extreme than Paris- the summers can get unpleasantly warm and humid at times (though they're often what some would call "warm and pleasant" as well), and the winters usually have periods of below freezing temps and snowfall that can range from virtually nothing one year to several feet the next. You may want to try going to weather.com and looking at the average temps, precipitation, etc., for the area you're considering- this will take the subjectivity out of the replies you'll get here, since one person's "warm and pleasant" may be another person's "stiffling and unbearable".
Actually, rain can be pretty unpredicatable. The weather report could say rain but it never rains. There are times where we just have one or two rain days in a month. But yes, love the sunshine. Lots and lots. Whether in hot, warm, cool, or cold days... Gotta love the sun.
Snow can be several inches deep in Sussex, Passaic and Warren counties and no snow in central NJ near Somerville.
South Jersey borrows more of its climate from its southern neighbors and is usually quite moderate. West central NJ is cooler than easten NJ
West central NJ is cooler than east central NJ.
The weather patterns vary from year to year as NJ. You can't count on consistent snow, winter can be late or early or intermittant, cold or intermittantly cold, rainy or dry.
Summer can be miserable with high heat and humidity for days or weeks at a time.
