Here's my shameless plug for a sensible approach to the right to carry concealed in New Jersey. A1282 would allow for law abiding citizens to carry concealed after passing the standard background checks (criminal, mental health, and domestic violence history) and being fingerprinted.

CALL/E-MAIL/WRITE YOUR LEGISLATOR!!!

Many have said that because we have a Democratically controlled legislature that this bill has no chance of passing, however, this Democrat desperately wants it to pass and I am not alone. Don't assume that your Assemblyman/Senator will not listen.

My Assemblywoman, Alison Littell McHose is one of the co-sponsors.

Here's a nifty piece of information taken from the bill:

34 WHEREAS, Aggravated assaults, for example, are 19.4 percent
35 lower in "right-to-carry" states; as are robberies (38.4 percent
36 lower), homicides (37.9 percent lower), and handgun homicides
37 (41.1 percent lower); and
38 WHEREAS, In California, where the "right-to-carry" is permitted in
39 certain counties, a comparison of the crime rates in those
40 counties with those which do not permit their law-abiding
41 residents to carry handguns reveals lower crime rates in the
42 "right-to-carry" counties; and.......

Here's the bill in it's entirety:
