I will be transferring to a new job in Hackettstown in three weeks. My family will follow me up soon, so we are looking for homes in Warren County. I went to school in Morris County (Drew University to be exact), so I am familiar with that part of Jersey but the houses are a bit expensive. Can anyone give me ideas on where to buy a home, 500k max price, in Warren County? I saw the listing of towns on NJ Monthly.com, but I would be interested in what people have to say. Cheers!

Warren County is not my cup of tea, but Hackettstown itself is my favorite area out there just because it does have a decent little town center, so it feels a little less isolated than some other places. But I do think prices have gone up there, so I am not sure what 500,000 gets but it can't hurt looking.

I've known a few people who moved out ot Lopatcong to get afforadable housing, but I don't think theres much to do out there, it is very close to PA.

Allamuchy may be good...it's closer to Hackettstown and Morris County and I think is cheaper than Hackettstown itself. My friend lives there and has a nice home and A LOT of land.

I would avoid Blairstown as my personal opinion, I have been there camping several times and it feels really isolated. You can get some cheap homes there, but if you have a family there really wouldn't be anything for kids to do. It's really woodsy and pretty, but also sort of scary at night because it's so woodys.
