Cmon - these 2 facts alone are enough to show NY is just using NJ as a dumping ground..
what professional baseball team plays in NJ?

i may argue that regarding football - NY does not get any revenue from the Jets and Giants - so who's zoomin' who?

How does that prove anything other than the fact that the New York metro area can't support 3 baseball & football teams?

Exactly. If I wanted to live in a state full of dumb 'people' who worship jocks, I'd live in Texas.

Hate to focus on one point but I wouldn't belittle having the Devils as a team this state can be identified with. As you can probably tell by my screen name that I'm not exactly a Devils fan but they have etched their name on the Stanley Cup several times over the last decade or so which is quite an accomplishment and not something that should be tarnished with an "oh great".......theres 29 other teams that would love to have the Devils record of late and 49 states that would probably love to call them their own !

Ever notice how proud those "dumb people" are of their states and teams not to mention how those teams "unify" their people and give them something to ralley around ? Forgetting the "intelligence" factor of the "jocks" on the teams wouldn't it be nice to have something to draw the people of New Jersey together and give them something positive to talk about ? You don't need to "worship" a sports franchise or figure for it to be a positive factor in your state ?

Sussex co here. Id rather be in PA than NY.

That being said... Why? NY and NJ are corrupt and poorly run. You honestly think there would be any synergy there in a merger?

In colonial times, New Jersey was split up into two entities--East Jersey and West Jersey. (Like our North and South, basically.) Just a little fyi.

NJ is geographically the perfect state for me- I'm just over the George Washington Birdge- far enough not hear all that noise, traffic, hustle and bustle, yet close enough to hop on the train and visit on weekends for art, theater, and culture. There's nothing like Frisbee and a run in Central Park come summer ... Additionally, living where I live- I'm 50 minutes from ther Jersey Shore, 2 1/2 hours from the Hamptons, 12 minutes from NYC, and 25 minutes from hiking trails at Ramapo Reservation and/or Harriman State Park ...

I wouldn't want to be anything else but a Jersey girl !!!!

Northern and Central NJ are New Yorks western suburbs along with some large satellite cities and most of South Jersey are the eastern suburbs of Philadelphia. This is the same in D.C. with northern VA and MD.
