Hello - is there an easy way to get to and from the 35th Street ferry and Rockefeller Center? Or is it better to stick with the trains to Penn Station and take the subway from there?

Any info is appreciated - thanks!!

Wouldn't the bus to the PA get you right in the neighborhood?

I'm relocating from Los Angeles so I'm pretty clueless (this site has been a godsend). Do you know where I can find more info on the bus schedules/routes? Thanks!!

It's easier to take the path to 33rd and 6th and just walk, it's not that far, and it's a nice refreshing walk to 45th. Or here are other options:

SUBWAY:

Take the F-D-B-V subway line to Rockefeller Center (between 47-50th Streets).

Or you can walk up one block to 6th and catch a bus:
Bus from Fifth Avenue:

Take the M1, M2, M3, M4 or M5 bus to 50th Street. Buses run north and south.

** Here's a link to the NYC subway system, it helped me A LOT when I first started learning how to get around. I LOVE the subways **

Thank you, curlybelle

Do you commute to the city from Bergen County? How is that? We are considering the River Vale/Hillsdale/Westwood area but I know there is no express to NYPenn from there...

I live in Bergen County. I take the Path Train from Ridgewood to HOboken, then I transfer to 33rd & 6th and either stay underground and take the subway or I go up to the streets and walk. I like to walk so that's usually my option.

You can buy path train cards at the train station, and metro cards in hoboken which are good for the path train and the subway.

If you're commuting for work purposes the ferry is an easy, relaxing ride, but you have to take it from Weehawkin. I can't get myself to drive there early in the morning. LOTS of traffic- The path train from Westwood now runs all night, sorry to confuse you. But, that goes into NYC as well.

Hi, (my first post) I work at 30 Rock.
I take train from Bergen County to the new Secaucus Transfer Station (one stop before Hoboken) and transfer to train directly into Penn Station. Walk one block east, hop the B,D,F or Q subway 2 stops to Rock Center. Many many people do this same routine. Which Rock Center building are you? You will likely not need to go outdoors after subway since all Rock Ctr buildings connected by vast underground. Matt

Hi Matt - thanks so much for this. I would be in 1211 Ave of the Americas and I know there is a subway stop directly below. How is the walk from Penn Station to the BDFQ? I assume that's not underground. I have also heard that Penn Station is a nightmare, how has that been for you?

We are considering some towns with express access to Penn (Glen Ridge in Essex or Metuchen in Middlesex), as well as some Monmouth towns close to the ferry. I can't quite figure out how I would get to Rock Center from the downtown or midtown ferry stops though...

Also considering Harrison in Westchester as a Metro-North to GC option, if anyone has thoughts on that?
