in the simplest terms, yes I am a salesman. Basically I am expanding my company into jersey and I am heading to central/north jersey to develope the territory. I will be checking out a couple different places in the end of the month. found places to live in hoboken, jersey city, morristown, princeton.
i will be renting an apt for a year, keeping it around 1500 a month, willing to spend more depends on how much I fall for the area/apt. As far as the question what is a young professional anyway? Basically it is someone who is not in college any longer, not settled down, still enjoys the night life/bar scene, and looking to meet people around the same age. (26)
Since I will be by myself in a new area, I would like to move to a young fun atmosphere with people my age. I am not interested in a place for families to settle or older folks to retire.
Downtown Jersey City or Hoboken.
If you're in Hoboken, you may want to get a space in a lot -- it is a tough place to park.

1500 for rent! jesus. I would just buy a condo in hoboken while it's cheap and pay a mortage for that much.
Dangerous Boy, the prices have dropped, but not to the point where you can get a mortgage for $1500 in Hoboken. If that is the OP's max price, he needs to rent. And to the OP, yes, you want Hoboken or downtown Jersey City.
Check out "The Landings" in Perth Amboy. The 2 bedrooms rent for $1600 but you might be able to negotiate it down to 1500. Everytime I show these, there are tons of young professionals as you say out on the patio grilling. I'd definitely take a look at some of the units for rent before ruling it out.
I still say try Somerville. It's smack dab in central jersey and you'll have no trouble finding parking for your car while renting. You will either have a garage or a driveway.
I would recommend Hoboken as well. I have been there for 9 years, and it's a great town. I moved there about a year after college, and I have noticed that the demographics of the town have changed in the past 9 years. More young married couples are stayer longer, so you see a lot of couples with babies, kids. But you do still have a lot of young singles. Parking is a nightmare, so you will probably want to pay for a spot, which can run about $200/month.
Look into New Brunswick, highly affordable, close to all major highways, and the nightlife there is expanding exponentially!
thank you. I dont want to buy because I will probally only be living in Jersey for about a year, then back to philly or MD
I own the company and will be turning over the territory to someone i feel can handle it.
Thanks for all your help, I am thinking New brunswick
